Operations
The Gilpin Ambulance Authority provides ambulance service for all of Gilpin County. Our services span all governmental agencies and call volume is broken out by agency/region of the county.
The majority, 63%, of our calls are within the Black Hawk City limits. Gilpin County calls, making up 20%, include all calls in the Timberline fire district and south of Black Hawk on 119. Central City Calls, making up 15%, include all calls in the Central City limits. The remaining 2% of calls are run as mutual aid responses in Boulder, Clear Creek and Jefferson Counties.
Board representatives and subsidy payments from the entities are determined by the percentage of call volume in those areas.
Additional funding comes from Grants. In 2010 we received a DOLA grant, with matching funds, to purchase a new ambulance. We watch for other grant options as well.
