Mutual Aid

We have mutual aid agreements with other ambulance agencies providing services in neighboring counties.  Most of our mutual aid responses are in Clear Creek County.

Due to the volatile nature of local Ski Areas, Ski traffic, Bad weather and the unpredictable nature of I-70, Clear Creek Ambulance needs a dependable neighbor to assist them when needed. Gilpin Ambulance will cover the east end of their district from Mile marker 243 on I-70 (Central City Parkway Exit) when Clear Creek’s resources have been depleted. In turn when Gilpin County is in need of additional resources Clear Creek is usually able to respond to the Parkway and remains in service for the county while our ambulances complete their assignments.

There are instances when we respond to the Jefferson County side of Hwy 6.  Last year Gilpin Ambulance and Black Hawk Fire were dispatched to respond to tunnel 2, on highway 6 to assist Golden Fire. A wreck had already occurred in tunnel 1 and blocked it off completely, and another wreck was reported in tunnel 2. Golden Fire and EMS could not respond because their current emergency had blocked them from any vehicle access to tunnel 2.

We also provide mutual aid to neighboring fire districts in the event of a structure or wild land fire.  We provide medical monitoring and care for firefighters as they work to put out the fire.
