It is impossible to judge a person’s character in a single moment.  Only slightly less difficult is being able to trust that rescuers can protect you, keep you safe and get you through your immediate emergency.  Yet this is a dilemma our crews deal with daily.  Often their most difficult task is winning the trust and confidence of their patients!  Recognizing this, we have developed stringent standards of training and experience for someone who wants to work with us and all of us demand that we treat every patient with respect and dignity.  Only the best work with us!  But we aren’t satisfied with the status quo.  We work constantly to refresh old knowledge, learn new techniques and procedures and develop better patient management skills.  Every shift we see new patients and work with new faces.  We continually strive to be the best we can be and we learn from every call we run.  We are proud of our people!

Gilpin employs 12 full time paramedics, 5 full time EMTs, 2 part time paramedics and 4 part time EMTs. Paramedics have a higher scope of training and have spent time as an EMT working along side paramedics. At any given time at least one medic is always staffed on an ambulance. Our crews have on average 15 years dedicated to public service in EMS. Some of our crew members have been working in the EMS field since 1977. Our crews bring with them a knowledge base built from working with other agencies in different areas of operation such as down town Denver, North East Colorado, out of state and some experience working for Helicopter Medical Transport agencies. Some of our crews are or have been firefighters. It is our crews’ vast experience which makes them and our team so strong. They have seen many troubles before and worked through tougher times and still come through. That experience is critical for success in the urban/rural/back country environment in which we operate, with transport times to major medical facilities that can range from 30-60 minutes under ideal circumstances to several hours in bad weather. When your rescuer arrives to take care of you, offering a helping hand when you need it most, when it’s time to ante up, you can count on the experience of your ambulance service.
